Christmas Joy

The card on the left is one I received a few years ago from Sista Mike (missmike) for Christmas. I have loved it since the day I received it!! I had it hanging on my inspiration board in my creative space the past few years and decided I was going to CASE it this year for our Christmas cards!! The card on the right is my case ~

I started with certainly celery as my base. I used CC ink and stamped the Flannel Plaid background. Then I used VersaMark to stamp the snowflakes and embossed them using the now retired Holigram Highlights EP. It really does give it a neat shimmer that does not show up too well in this picture!

Once that was done I started on the 'christmas joy' message. I just loved how Sista Mike did hers but I didnt have an ornament so that is why I decided to use the snowflake again for the 'o' in Joy. I stamped it in order ~ J - O - Y so I could get it spaced correctly. The J and Y are stamped in Real Red using the Big Deal Alpha. The snowflake is stamped in Certainly Celery ink. I then used some funky green glitter glue that Sista Mike recently sent to me! I dabbed that on the 6 tips of the snowflake. It really does add more shimmer to the card even tho you really can't see that in this picture either!! Then I stamped 'christmas' from Everyday Flexible Phrases using Basic Black ink next to the J.

Now it was time to add some ribbon and stuff!! lol I punched out a real red 1/2" circle and taped that to the front of my card. I then punched a 1/8" circle thru those two layers and added a eyelet to the middle. I then ran the silver elastic cord thru the hole and wrapped some assorted SU! ribbons with that and tied a knot. Whoola!

These were fun to make ~ thanks to Sista Mikes inspiration!!

Here is the recipe:
Stamps: The Snowflake Spot, Flannel Plaid, Big Deal Alphabet, Everyday Flexible Phrases
Paper: Certainly Celery, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Real Red, Certainly Celery, Basic Black, VersaMark
Accessories: HH Embossing Powder (retired 2007), eyelets, 1/8" circle punch, 1/2" circle punch, assorted SU! ribbons, green glitter glue stuff (on the joy snowflake)

Happy Heart Day 2008

I'm thinking Happy Heart Day already and here it tis' the 21st day of December!! Well ... the truth of the matter is I am getting my swap cards made up now to send off for the Spring/Summer catalog soon to be released! Here is a sneek peak at an upcoming stamp set folks! (and some ds paper too!!) teehee!

I have included two pictures here as one does not show the colors very well and the other one shows the image better -- I need to get my lighting figured out so it's just right!! *sigh*

So anywhoo I started with a Rose Red cardstock base as I used the new Bali Breeze DS paper and I wanted those two to match - the polka dot on the bottom is the Bali Breeze.

I sponged around the edges of the entire card front using Rose Red ink to give it a softer look.

I stamped Miss Mouse on Naturals Ivory with Basic Black in and then used my Aqua Painter to color in her heart with Regal Rose ink. THEN her flower is decked out with dazzling diamonds.

I used the ticket corner punch on all four corners of her and then layered that with Old Olive cardstock.

I used two layers of ribbon - Beachfront Ribbon Originals on the bottom and the double stitched purely pomegranate ribbon on the top. What a neat look!

I used the 'happy heart day' saying by stamping that on a separate piece of Naturals Ivory card stock, ticket punching just the two sides and adding that as a 'tab' on the side of the main image.

I used stampin' dimensionals to attach Miss Mouse to the top of the ribbons after using the butterfly image out of this same stamp set to stamp a little butterfly off to the upper left hand side of where the main image would be placed - just a little extra added touch.

As always, here is the recipe:

Stamp Set: Happy Heart Day
Card Stock: Rose Red, Old Olive, Naturals Ivory, Bali Breeze DS Paper
Stampin’ Pads: Rose Red, Basic Black, Regal Rose
Accessories: Aqua Painter, Dazzling Diamonds, Ticket Corner Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Double Stitched Purely Pomegranate Ribbon, Ribbon Originals – Beachfront
Inspiration from: SCS: mmyung1 (card sketch) & Lauraly (ribbon layering) ~ Thanks Ladies!!

Happy Mail!

What a cool card! We recently received this in the mail from my cousin Kelli who lives with her family in AZ. She has just gotten into stamping recently ~ I'd say she is off to an awesome start!!

This is a tri-fold card ~ meaning the 'happy holidays' opens up to another fold which is then open and you can read their holiday message.

This is just great ~ Thanks Kelli!!!

Recycled Vitamin Container

This box is my Metagenics Vitamin container - recycled and covered in DS paper and made up to gift! I just knew that I would have to do something with these containers when they were empty! There are two separate sides - one for an AM vitamin and the other side for a PM vitamin packet. So essentially I could do two different kinds of candy but for this one I just chose the same kind of candy for both sides.

This one is for a female deputy that I work with - she has a birthday this month and I thought it would be fun to use my new stuff . I have also made them with 'guy colors' and have gifted them and they have loved them as well!!

The list of ingredients is pretty short on this one!!
Stamp Sets: Celebrate Everything

DS Paper: Bali Breeze and Kraft cardstock

Accessories: VersaMark, Black embossing powder, Embossing Gun, Ribbon

Oh, and if you are not familiar with the Metagenics vitamins -- they are absolutely awesome!! The best of the best IMO!

So what containers do you have sitting around that you could recycle?? Have fun!!

Aunt CJ's 2007 Christmas Cards

First off -- sorry that this picture is lousy -- the colors just didnt come out here very well ;o( It really is much prettier in person!!
My Aunt CJ asked me if I would make her Christmas cards for her this year -- of course I love to stamp so I took her up on the offer!!
They live by the river in NC so the wildlife was a perfect match!! I chose the deer from 'Noble Deer'. I stamped this with Chocolate Chip ink on Natural Ivory cardstock. I then ran the sides of this thru the Chocolate Chip pad and then mounted it to a piece of Kraft cardstock.

The base of the card is the retired confetti craft that we used to sell - I just love(d) this cardstock. As they say all good things must come to an end, huh?
I then stamped my fave background samp, Linen, with old olive ink and stamped that on the old olive cardstock.
The next layer I wanted to add 'warmest wishes' but my Mom has that retired stamp set in her collection so I improvised! I ran some Night of Navy cs thru my printer!! I had come up with a whole sheet of 'warmest wishes' in the different SU! fonts -- cool! I then just cut this down to use on the card! If any of you are interested in the word document just let me know and I'll email it to you!!

I wrapped the night of navy card stock with red grosgrain ribbon and tied it. The deer image is mounted with stampin' dimensionals just to give it a bit more overall dimension to the card. On this particular card I did add a little gold bell with gold cord but I didnt do this on all of the cards for Aunt CJ - when I took this one to the postoffice to see if it would 'pass' with one stamp it wouldnt as it was too "fat"!! bummer! So the rest of cards were 'bell-less'!
As always, here is the recipe:

Stamps: Noble Deer, Linen BG, All Holidays
Paper: Base is the retired Confetti Tan, Old Olive, Night of Navy, Natural Ivory
Ink: Close to Cocoa, Old Olive
Accessories: Red Ribbon, Gold Cord, Mini Bell, Stampin' Dimensionals

Welcome Baby!

Now, isn't this just the most adorable baby announcement you have seen? We received this in the mail introducing a new baby to the family!! My cousin Kyle and his wife Tamara, who live in AZ, have been blessed with a new little one to their family!

Tamara is new to the stamping world and I think her work rocks! The colors of this pocket card (sorry it turned out so dark!) include elegant eggplant and certainly celery.

They included the babys picture on the back of the insert - great idea!!

I just love anything done with pockets and tabs ~ perfect Tamara!!

Coaster Crazy-ness!!

I sure have been having fun making all sorts of Christmas gifts lately!! These have been just a ball - and soo soo easy to 'make'!

Here are just a few of the many I have done:

There are two different tiles I have used - both pictured above. One is a whiter tile and the other is a darker, tan color. I picked these up at Lowes. They have a 'rough look' to them but yet they work awesome for stamping on. I didnt like the really smooth ones as if you mess up your image a little bit while stamping it shows -- where with these they are supposed to kinda look that way! KWIM? lol

I use both the SU! craft pads as well as StazOn pads. For some reason the StazOn seem to smear in the final stages of spraying on the acrylic spray -- why? I dont know as they are supposed to be so much more of a permenant ink...The craft pads dont do this ---

Here is how I complete these:
1.) Choose SU! images I want to use - some have a background and foreground stamp set.

2.) Stamp the background image and then use a heat gun to 'dry' the image.

3.) Stamp the foreground stamps

4.) Place tiles on a cookie sheet and bake them in the oven, 300 degrees for about 20 minutes. This will complete the drying process.

5.) Let them completely cool and then lay them out in a well ventalated area and spray them with a clear acrylic spray. Let them dry and spray again - repeating this for a total of 3 coats.

6.) Then I applied little circle felt pads to the four corners of the bottom, stamped my name stamp and then took the four matching coasters and tied them up either ribbon or twine and attached a gift tag ~ whoola! Ready to gift!!

BoHo On the Fly

Here is my third and final group for Teresa's (jtkshaw) Style Watch Swap over on SCS. This is for the boho west theme ~ notice I didnt use any of the stamp sets from this theme! But according to her posts throughout her swap we didnt have to -- we just had to follow these few rules:

*Full Cards
*You must use the color scheme and at least two products from the page featuring the line you choose to complete your cards.
*Vendor products: SU Only Current, Demo quality, at least 2 layers, embelishments a must!!!
I didnt order any of the stamp sets from this page on my first two orders that I placed July 1st but I did order 'On The Fly' and I thought I could incorporate this into the theme with the patterened paper and On Board Lots of Letters!

I started out by stamping the sanded backround on the Sage Shadow card stock using close to Cocoa Ink. I love this new background!!! How fun and it doesnt have to be perfect!! Yeah my style!!

Then I just cut a piece of the Outlaw Designer Paper to attach to the bottom and the back of the card is done!
Next I stamped the On The Fly image in Chocolate Chip in on Very Vanilla cardstock. Then I took the paper distressing tool and ran it around the edges of the image. Once I completed this I took a piece of a sponge and dabbed it in my chocolate chip pad and then sponged it around the distressed edges.
Then I came up with a reason to use the new ribbon!!! I ran a piece of the new 5/8" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon across the front to soften the line between where the pattern paper met the Sage Shadow.
Next came probably the most labor intensive part of the card, but probably the most fun! Using the On Board Lots of Letters (and a rubber glove) I embossed them with black embossing powder! First I pushed the letters down into my 'craft' black stampin' pad. Then, while holding it with a pair of tweezers, I sprinkled the black embossing powder over it and heat embossed it. I did this 2 or 3 times per letter to be sure it was pretty thick and covered. They didnt turn out too bad -- maybe not as 'pretty' as I had hoped but I guess it is a guys card huh? lol

I mounted the letters to the front of the card using the mini glue dots -- they worked great!
My intention would be that the 'initial' on the front of the card would stand for the guys name that would be celebrating his birthday or special day -- whatever sentiment the swapper receiving the card decides to stamp on the inside!

Here is a re-cap of the recipe:

Stamp Sets: On The Fly, Sanded Background
Stampin’ Pads: Craft Black, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip
Card Stock: Outlaw Designer Paper, Sage Shadow, Very Vanilla
Accessories: On Board Lots of Letters, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Cutter Kit (paper distressing tool), Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Heat Tool, 5/8” Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon

Casual Corner Office

So here would be another card that I did for a recent swap that I participated in with Teresa (jtkshaw) over on SCS ~ this one came with inspiration of SCS'er Vera...Thanks Vera ;o)

Again, our lovely hotess Teresa, had a theme for this swap -- it was called "Style Watch Swap". It's all based on the different themes in the front of the new SU! IB&C -- In this one I signed up for 'Corner Office' -- here were her few rules:

*Full Cards
*You must use the color scheme and at least two products from the page featuring the line you choose to complete your cards.
*Vendor products: SU Only Current, Demo quality, at least 2 layers, embelishments a must!!!

Once again, I had to get my new stamps inky!! (I love the smell of new rubbah'!!)

I started out by stamping the Friend by Definition background on Ruby Red paper with Ruby Red ink. (So I could get the 'friend' positioned just right up in the upper left hand corner I just turned my background stamp upside down when stamping -- that way I could position that corner exactly where I wanted it to stamp!!)

Next, I stamped my fave new saying from the All Holidays stamp set on Very Vanilla using Chocolate Chip ink. I think one of the reasons I love this saying so is beacuse of it's layout -- I love it when I see a particular saying with different fonts throught. (I really love 'wordsworth' for that reason too) Then I used the tag corner punch and just punched two sides of the saying -- just to give it a bit of a different look on that one side.

Now, using the new In Color Wild Wasabi cardstock I punched the left side with the Spiral Punch so I had a total of 4 holes. Then I mounted my fave saying to this piece and cut it down to match.

Then came the fun part! In this picture it is hard to see but I embossed the tag!! Using the 'solid' (looks all black in the catalog picture) totally tag I stamped it in VersaMark on the In Color River Rock cardstock and then immediately stamped the 'for you' saying (also from the All Holidays stamp set) using the chocolate chip in the center bottom of the tag. Then I just simply embossed the entire tag with the crystal clear stampin' emobssing powder!! Once it was cooled then I took my Round Tab Punch and with ease punched out the tag --- that easy!

The last step was using a Gold Brad I attached the embossed tab to the saying. I then used some stampin' dimensionals and mounted the entire saying to the background -- just to give it a little 'pop'!

As always, here again is the recipe:

Stamp Sets: Totally Tabs, Friend by Definition background, All Holidays
Stampin’ Pads: Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red, VersaMark
Card Stock: More Mustard, Ruby Red, Wild Wasabi, Very Vanilla, River Rock
Accessories: Gold Brads, Spiral Punch, Round Tab Punch, Tag Corner Punch, Crystal Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Stampin’ Dimensionals, 1/16” Circle Punch

Just Because Baroques....

Hello Everyone!!
Long time no post ~ ~ so sorry!! It's been quite a summer around here *sigh* I have sooo wanted to just sit down and stamp but other obligations have been calling my name. So I purposely did something recently ~ I signed up for a swap that Teresa (jtkshaw) was hosting over on SCS! Then I *had* to sit down and stamp, right? lol I signed up for three different groups. The theme of this swap was called "Style Watch Swap". It's all based on the different themes in the front of the new SU! IB&C -- In this one I signed up for 'Tapestry' -- here were her few rules:
*Full Cards
*You must use the color scheme and at least two products from the page featuring the line you choose to complete your cards.
*Vendor products: SU Only Current, Demo quality, at least 2 layers, embelishments a must!!!

So here is what I created! I used Baroque Motifs and Define your Life Stamp sets -- two new ones that I just *had* to use! lol

I started out by stamping the little flowers on the Old Olive cardstock with Old Olive ink. Then I came in on top of that with the large pretty swirl with VersaMark and Stampin' Emobss Crystal Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it with the heat gun. Pretty huh? That took care of the background!

The define your life is stamped on the new In Color River Rock using Always Artichoke Ink and mounted on Chocolate Chip card stock.

Then -- I did some more pretty embossing!! This time using Brushed Gold Card stock and Gold Glory emobssing powder! I also mounted that image to chocolate chip card stock.

To bring it all together I thought I needed to add some new pretty ribbon too!! So for this card I used the new pretty Taffeta Ribbon in Mellow Moss and wrapped that aound the card and tied it. I then mounted the gold ornament on top of the ribbon using some stampin' dimensionals just to give it a bit more dimension.

I think that did the trick ;o)

Here is the recipe again -- all together just like on the back of the card for the recipents of Teresa's swap:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stamp Sets: Baroque Motifs, Define Your Life
Stampin’ Pads: Always Artichoke, Old Olive, VersaMark
Card Stock: Always Artichoke, River Rock, Chocolate Chip, Brushed Gold
Accessories: Stampin’ Emboss Crystal Clear, Stampin’ Emboss Gold Glory, Taffeta Ribbon Mellow Moss, Stampin’ Dimensionals
Thanks for looking!! I'll be posting my other two submissions for this swap over the next couple of days too!!
I just love your style Michaeleen ~ thanks for thinking of me ;o))
~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~
So sorry it's been awhile since I have updated my blog with anything fun!! It's just been crazy busy here at our house and I have been going thru stampin' withdrawls ;o( My space has been calling my name but I just have not had the chance to get to it for pert' near a whole month *uh* Lot's going on here it seems --- but I hope that changes soon!! I walk by it each day and yearn to go and sit in my chair but I am pulled in other directions right now it seems!!
I hope all of you have seen the new SU! catalog by now --- isn't it just exciting!!?? I am just loving all of the fun new stuff I am seeing in there!! My first order should be enroute very shortly as I ordered moments after they opened up the flood gates of receiving cyber orders! Ribbons, paper, new rubbah' oh my!! Birthday Fun!
Does this card look familar?? In my last blog post I had posted a pic and revealed who my SCS DDSS was --- this card was included in that package of goodies from Barb. It was just soo dang cute! I wanted to give you an up close look at it AND share with you another fun link since we are 'talking' about birthdays here!!
Quoted directly from Barbs SCS gallery here is what she has to say about her creation here:
"I love the crab and company set. I used cool caribbean, orange and close to cocoal. Stamped the crab in stazon brown on scallop punch. Stamped him again and colored him in. Cut him out and popped him up above the original image. Cut out the birthday cake and present. Used my cuttlebug embossing folder for the background."
Please feel free to jump over to Barbs gallery on SCS and give her some kudos for this awesome card -- here is her gallery!
a little test...this is only a test...
Hello Everyone ~
I've been a litte frustrated to say the least. Some of you have contacted me stating that you havent been getting the automatic updates when I post to my blog. I didnt know what to say as I didnt know how to fix it as that is a 'Feedblitz thing' and out of my control ;o(
Sooo tonight I was reading the blog of "Inking Aloud" and she had posted the following in her post today:
"Feedblitz issues should be solved now (thanks, Feedblitz tech support!). If you have subscribed to Inking Aloud through Feedblitz but haven't been receiving regular updates, you should start to see them. Thanks for your patience."
Sooo....I am just conducting a little test here --- Just to see if you, and I, are back to receiving our notificaitons when I post to my blog ;o) If NOT, then I will need to conatct Feedblitz tech support and see what I need to do.....*humm tapping finger on chin* .....here's hoping it works!!
IF it works ... I really have posted a few new projects! Please, check em' out!!
~ ~ ~Many Stampin' Thanks!
BIA CD Grad Book
Here is the little Bind-It-All CD book that I have made for a awhile now --
I made it for a high school girl that we know that graduated this year from high school. I wanted to give this CD binding a try and thought this would be fun!!
I took some regular plain CD's and used a circle cutter along with the SU! printed playhouse papers and went circle crazy. I was not able to cut exactly the size of circle I needed to fit the CD exact, so being a little smaller than the CD is OK -- gives each 'page' a bit of a shine, right? *wink wink* On the back of each CD I just used a circle punch to cover the hole of the middle of the CD. I thought about covering each side but then thought .....*humm*.... it would be fun if I left the back side blank and suggested to Tille that she could use a Sharpie marker and write her comments that would correspond with the pictures on the other half of the 'page'. OR even let her friends write their comments too!
The 't' on the front of the album is from the chipboard SU! Simon lower collection. I then just covered it with the paper and 'sanded' it around the edges -- that is such a fun and easy technique!
I added a tab to each page just to add a bit of flair to the edges of each page and I just love to use my tab punch at every chance I get! I wrapped a little piece of stitched ribbon around the tab and placed a diamond brad in the center to gather it a bit too. I added a fun stamped word to each page and taped it to the CD. In the following pictures you can also see how the tab looks on the back side of the CD.
I tried to stagger out the tabs so when the book was closed they looked spaced out .
This was a blast to make and really didnt take much time at all!! The last thing I did was add some fun SU! ribbon to the spiral binding just to dress it up a bit too!
I plan on making more of these in the future!! These could easily be done with more pages too --- that all just depends on how big of a spiral binding you have --- the ideas are endless!!
